The MIT Alumni Association (MITAA) Board of Directors guides the work of the Alumni Association in collaboration with the MITAA CEO and staff, operating within the larger framework of stated policies put forth by the Institute, and represents the interests of the Institute’s community of nearly 147,000 living alumni.

On July 1, 2023, the Board officially welcomed R. Robert Wickham ’93, SM ’95 as its 129th president. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Wickham is vice president and general manager Tableau Asia Pacific, a maker of data visualization software, as well as a public speaker and frequent media contributor. As an MIT volunteer, he has built a notable record of service. Wickham is a past member of the MIT Corporation, the MITAA Board, and the Annual Giving Board, and he served for many years as an educational counselor, career advisor, and mentor. Wickham has earned several alumni service awards, including the MITAA’s highest honor, the Bronze Beaver Award, in 2014.

“As someone who lives a bit of distance from Cambridge myself, I am excited about ensuring the Association’s relevance by energizing the global connectivity of our community,” Wickham said in the July/August 2023 issue of Technology Review’s MIT News magazine. “The impact of MIT alumni transcends zip codes and time zones.”

Read the full Q&A with Wickham and learn below about the newly selected term members, who will serve multiyear terms; one at-large director, who will serve a one-year term; and invited student guests.

Wickham will be succeeded in his one-year term by newly appointed president-select Natalie Lorenz Anderson ’84. The members new this year to the board are listed below; see the full listing of the MITAA Board of Directors.
